For Patriots Fans Eyes Only: Even Though Today Is Routine For the Patriots All Pats Fans Should Still Take A Minute To Appreciate Our Greatness
It’s finally here. Today is the unofficial opening game of the season for Patriots fans. The games finally count. It’s finally the divisional round of the playoffs and per usual the Patriots are playing. We are trying to head to our 8th straight AFC title game. EIGHTH STRAIGHT. In an era where parity is king and the NFL strives for equality the Pats have been to 8 superbowls in 16 years, 11 AFC title games (I don’t even know if these numbers are exact. I’ve lost count they’ve gotten so ridiculous) Brady and the Pats have been to the Superbowl in half the seasons he’s been in the league. Before every season begins we know we have a 75% chance of being in Superbowl. If we don’t win it all than the entire season is viewed as a gigantic waste of time. We are left stunned and depressed and questioning the existence of god. Meanwhile other cities treat just making the playoffs like they won a world championship.
Why am I saying all this? Because when the impossible becomes routine it’s easy to forget how lucky we are. It’s easy to take for granted our success. It’s easy to forget how lucky we are to always be in the playoffs. It’s easy to forget how many franchises would kill for 1 playoff win. So before we embark on yet another superbowl run take a step back, smell the flowers and thank god for making you a Pats fan.
